BICYCLE RENTAL AGREEMENT

This Bicycle Rental Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement") is entered into on this ___ day of __________, 20___, by and between:
Owner: ____________________________ ("Lessor")
Renter: ____________________________ ("Lessee")
The parties agree to the following terms and conditions for the rental of steel road bicycles (hereinafter referred to as "Bicycle(s)") under the laws and regulations of the City and County of San Francisco, California:
1. Rental Term
1.1 The minimum rental term is 30 consecutive days.
1.2 The rental period shall commence on ___/___/___ and terminate on ___/___/___.
1.3 Early return by the Lessee does not entitle the Lessee to any refund of rental fees.
2. Rental Fees and Deposit
2.1 The rental fee is $________ per 30-day period, payable in advance.
2.2 A refundable security deposit of $________ is due at the start of the rental term. This deposit will be returned upon the satisfactory return of the Bicycle, subject to deductions for damages or late fees as outlined in this Agreement.
3. Condition of Bicycle
3.1 The Bicycle is rented in good, safe, and operable condition.
3.2 Lessee agrees to return the Bicycle in the same condition, normal wear and tear excepted.
3.3 A pre-rental inspection checklist (Appendix A) must be completed and signed by both parties before the Bicycle is handed over.
4. Restrictions on Use
4.1 The Bicycle is to be used only for personal transportation within the San Francisco Bay Area.
4.2 Lessee shall not:
- Sublease or rent the Bicycle to another party.
- Use the Bicycle for competitive racing, stunts, or commercial activities.
- Modify or alter the Bicycle in any way.
4.3 Electric bikes (e-bikes) are excluded from this Agreement and cannot be substituted for the rented Bicycle.
5. Maintenance and Repairs
5.1 Lessee is responsible for routine maintenance (e.g., tire inflation, chain lubrication).
5.2 Any repairs due to improper use, negligence, or accidents are the sole responsibility of the Lessee.
5.3 Repairs must be completed at a Lessor-approved shop, with prior written consent for repairs exceeding $50.
6. Liability and Indemnity
6.1 Lessee assumes full liability for any injuries, damages, or losses resulting from the use or misuse of the Bicycle.
6.2 Lessee agrees to indemnify and hold the Lessor harmless from all claims, liabilities, or legal actions arising from the Lessee’s use of the Bicycle.
6.3 Lessee is encouraged to secure personal liability insurance for the duration of the rental term.
7. Return of Bicycle
7.1 The Bicycle must be returned by 5:00 PM on the last day of the rental term to the agreed-upon location.
7.2 Late returns will incur a fee of $______ per day.
8. Termination
8.1 The Lessor reserves the right to terminate this Agreement immediately if the Lessee breaches any term of this Agreement.
8.2 Upon termination, the Lessee must return the Bicycle immediately, and any prepaid fees will be forfeited.
9. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California and the ordinances of the City and County of San Francisco.
10. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties. Any modifications must be in writing and signed by both parties.
